Recent Updates

Fall 2020

This academic year we will be launching a new UI for instructors. This new UI will be released as an optional beta in the Fall and rollout to all users in the Spring semester.

Instructor UI

This will make it easier for you to manage your assignments and track student progress. This provides an at-a-glance view of assignment progress, recommended actions for each stage of the assignment, and simpler navigation through the tool. The new interface will better support large classes and especially those using the new asynchronous workflow.

Updates include a more detailed student tracker, easier-to-edit rubric creator, and flexible group management.

Enhanced Team Member Evaluation Features

Team Member Evaluation, where students assess their group members’ contribution, has been updated to make it easier to track students and their evaluations. Instructors can more easily group students and navigate through the assignment. We’ve also added functionality to allow instructors to have full downloads of all assignment information and see the students’ overall score. In Spring 2021, instructors will also be able to directly transfer student performance grades to the LMS gradebook based on a predetermined scale. There will also be additional settings to modify how students see their results.

Student UI Updates

Fall 2019

For the Fall 2019 semester, Peerceptiv is excited to add these new features to our robust peer-review and assessment technology. These updates allow Peerceptiv to more seamlessly integrate with your LMS and will make setting up electronic peer review assignments even easier!

Peer Assessments

  • Rubrics are no longer limited to a rating scale of 1-7; they can now be created on any scale from 1-10. This allows instructors to use a rubric with rating levels 1-10, or use already-existing rubrics built on a four-point or five-point scale, for example.
  • Every instructor account now has 5 pre-loaded assignments and rubrics that can be copied into any course. Choose from a research paper, group presentation, reading response assignment, multimedia assignment, and short writing assignment. After copying into a course, they are fully editable to fit the specific course and assignment requirements.

Team Member Evaluation

  • It is now possible to edit a team member evaluation assignment after it has been created. This allows you to change the assignment description or settings without having to create a new team member evaluation assignment.
  • Team Member Evaluation assignments and rubrics can now be copied into other assignments and courses, making it easier for you to set up new courses.

Enhanced LMS Integration

  • Instructors can automatically transfer their class list from the LMS into Peerceptiv with the click of a button.
  • Groups in the LMS can be automatically transferred to Peerceptiv for group or team member evaluation assignments.
  • By October 1, Peerceptiv will be LTI 1.3 Advantage certified, allowing better integration and increased data sharing between the LMS and Peerceptiv.

Unicode Support Patch

All characters, including symbols and non-English characters, will now display properly. This will fix display issues on the reviewing and back-evaluation screen with characters in languages other than English and punctuation marks not displaying properly.

Teacher Interface

This fall we will be rolling out a new teacher interface, make navigating Peerceptiv more intuitive for instructors and to help you better use the data generated in an assignment. We’ll post more information about it when the teacher interface updates go live, but we are very excited about the enhanced user experience that this interface will provide.

Fall 2018

The Team Member Evaluation module is now up and running. Instructors can add Team Member Evaluation to any group submission in Peerceptiv or create a Team Member Evaluation stand alone assignment to assess group contributions in any context. This new feature includes 5 out-of-the-box assessment categories and rubrics: Content Knowledge and Skills, Communication, Professionalism, Work Ethic, and Overall Contribution. Instructors can add as many additional categories as they choose and can also modify or delete the standard categories.

Other updates coming soon include: threshold grading, improved student reviewing interface, and a redesign of the grades tables.

Summer 2018

This summer we have made a number of student and instructor improvements.

Instructors can now use the Assignment Creation Wizard, a step by step guide to creating assignments on Peerceptiv. This more modern design will ensure that assignments are set up the way the instructor intends and with more options than the previous assignment creation page. Past assignments can still be copied and pasted, and instructors still have access to the assignment and rubric libraries.

Students have a new student user interface that makes it easier to navigate through all phases of the assignment and access any open tasks using the new progress monitor. They can also more easily view the assignment description, rubric, and settings, whether on a computer, tablet, or a mobile device. Navigational buttons guide them through the process and track what they have completed and what they have yet to complete.

For more information about these changes or how to use the assignment creation wizard or new student interface, check out our Knowledge Base.

Spring 2018 Upgrade

  • New Help Materials – We’ve completely rewritten our help materials for both teachers and students. All help materials are now housed at peerceptiv.zendesk.com, and the Help Center is still available through the main menu in Peerceptiv. Users can use the Submit a Request link in this page to contact support@18.191.212.205.
  • Assignment Copy – Peerceptiv has streamlined the assignment copy process. Use the Copy an Existing Assignment link on the New Assignment page to get started. You’ll then select the assignment you wish to copy, provide a new assignment name and deadlines, and complete the copy process.

Fall 2017 Upgrade – Assignment Sets and Self Evaluation

  • Assignment Sets – Assignment sets are now available for schools using Peerceptiv within a Learning Management System. Assignment sets allow instructors to create multiple versions of a single assignment. Within their LMS, instructors can associate groups of students with each version of the assignment and release the link for an assignment version only to those students participating in that particular assignment version. Within Peerceptiv, a new assignment-level setting allows instructors to turn off student notifications for assignments within an assignment set.
  • Self-Evaluation — Our new self-evaluation option complements traditional peer assessment. In assignments using self-evaluation, students rate and comment on their own submission according to the same reviewing rubric used to evaluate peer submissions. Students can self-evaluate their own document immediately after they upload their assignment, and students can write or edit their self-evaluation up until the reviewing deadline. Completion of the self assessment will be graded as a component of the Task Grade and will not otherwise effect reviewing or writing grades.
  • Interface Improvement and New Settings – Among a number of interface improvements, including a more responsive site design, two new assignment-level settings have been introduced for Fall 2017. The new Hold Grades for Manual Release assignment-level setting allows the instructor to stop the automatic release of grades. When Hold Grades for Manual Release is set to Yes, instructors will click the Release Grades button to release grades after the back-evaluation deadline. The Send Student Notifications setting allows instructors to turn notifications on or off at the assignment level.

Interface Update

Several instructor pages have been redesigned for Peerceptiv’s Spring 2017 release. While little has changed with system function, instructors will notice several design changes:

  • The Current Assignment page has been redesigned for ease of use. Each assignment now has its own page. The assignment Overview, Dimensions, and Settings appear in separate views within the assignment.
  • All assignments in the course are presented in a simple All Current Assignments view. This can be accessed by clicking on Assignments in the main menu, or by clicking the All Current Assignments link at the top of any single assignment’s page
  • Some of you may have already noticed that many settings have moved from the course to the assignment level, including Reviewing Style and Grading settings. Peerceptiv has also introduced a new course setting, Allow Review without Upload. Use this setting to enable students to review peer documents without submitting their own document. Peerceptiv now prohibits students from reviewing without uploading, unless the instructor selects “Yes” for this option.
